It’s beginning to look a lot like Christmas.

I’m happy so many of you are in the Christmas Spirt. I received a record number of suggestions this week for fun things to do.
Many of you recommended Christmas Wonderland at Rock Spring Park in Alton.
I agree with you. This is a great experience. As a matter of fact, my parents have taken me every year since I was born.
It has become a family tradition for us. When I was little I would sit on Dad’s lap and “Drive” us through the park. I like seeing the animals at the petting zoo. Of course, Santa is there visiting with all the kids.
When you go, don’t forget to vote for your favorite Christmas tree. You’ll know what I mean when you get there. Oh, and keep a lookout for the Today’s AdVantage Display. Let me know what you think of it?
Somebody told me there’s a really cool display on Paris Drive in Godfrey. I haven’t seen that yet but I’m going to go check that out too.
Congratulations to Deana from Wood River.
She wins two movie passes for being the first to submit an idea this week.

Deena writes, “We just took our two year old son to Tilles Park in Missouri for Winter Wonderland. You drive through the park (like at Rock Spring). The lights were awesome. They have a lighted pond that looks like a fish is jumping, a mouse going down a ski slope and a giant old man winter blowing snowflakes (all in lights, of course) $9 per car. Not a bad deal and the lights were amazing.”
I’ve never been to Tilles Park but we’re going this Sunday. We’re going all out and taking the carriage ride. That should really be cool or should I say... cold.
I got great idea from Stacey in Granite City. Stacey writes: “ Ice Skating in the St. Louis outdoors rink is a must for anyone! It is a great way to bring in the holiday season! They also have a small cafe to grab a quick bite to eat and some hot chocolate!
Brianna from Glen Carbon writes: “We went to Wal-mart and got a name from the giving tree. We bought little girl age Barbies and Little Pet Shops and a hat. It really, really felt good. It was fun buying things that I liked when I was younger and thinking of how happy a little girl will be.”
Good job Brianna.
Thanks for all the great holiday ideas!
I’m always looking for something interesting to do. If you’vedone something lately, let me know. I may mention you in an upcoming issue. Send me a great idea, and you could win Kerasotes movie passes! Thay’re good at both Eastgate in East Alton or Showplace 12 in Edwardsville. Don’t forget to include a photo if you can.
This is Ben Thayer and I’ve done that.
