DISNEY CRUISE

Picture 7

Vacations are great, aren’t they? I sure think so. I just got back from a 3-night Disney Cruise!

This was my first cruise and I was really excited. I wasn’t really sure of what to expect. Some people describe the Disney Cruise ships as big as the Empire State building on its side.

When I first saw the ship, I was blown away! The boat was gigantic! It was the biggest thing I have ever seen.

What really shocked me was the Disney hospitality. All 935 crew on the boat are nice beyond belief. No one raised their voice. I saw no frowns the entire time. I learned that the crew on the boat are from 50 different countries! Everyone spoke English, but with their own accent.

The boat was super clean. When the boat docked in the Bahamas and on Castaway Cay (Disney’s private island) the crew painted, power-washed, and waxed the outside of the boat!

Before you go to any restaurant, people are stationed at a spot and hand you sanitary wipes.

There is one room service person for every four rooms. Ours was Neil from Cambodia. He would clean the room and make towel animals whenever you stuck the clean room sign on your door. Sometimes as much as four times a day.
But the crazy thing is... we hardly ever saw him.

On board, there is so much food to eat. Believe it or not, five minutes into the cruise, my family was eating at a buffet. There are 10 places to eat on the ship.

We ate at Parrot Key the first night. Parrot Key is a parrot/forrest decorated restaurant. We got to do the limbo there.

We ate at Triton’s the second night. Triton’s is a French restaurant. It is the biggest and fanciest restaurant on the ship.

We ate at Animator’s Palate the third night. This restaurant was my favorite. It has Disney characters sketched on the walls. They start in black and white then change color to become the finished character.

For each dinner, you are assigned the same waiter and a drink assistant. Nikola was our waiter. He is from Serbia. William was our drink assistant. He is from South Africa. They are very nice and super cool. We got to know them pretty well.

I got to ride on a jet ski, go snorkeling, swimming, play on the beach, play basketball, soccer, and ping-pong, and also spent a lot of time in the arcade.

There is a special teen area. No one younger than 13 or older than 17 can access it.

There is a PS3, Wii, computers, and tvs. There are many activities for teens. I didn’t get to be in there much because I was mostly off the ship.

There are many, many, many activities for 12 and under kids to do.

There is a running track on deck 4. One lap around the ship is 1/3 mile.

One of the coolest decorations on the boat was the Route 66 carpet. It had the whole thing. It had Alton, St. Louis, Jersyville, Collinsville, Granite City, Edwardsville and some other towns around here.

There is so much to do on the ship and on the islands. I never got seasick. I would definitely go back.
