Max The Love Puppy

Max The Love Puppy

Finally, after a whole year of begging, I got a puppy!

My mom started searching months ago to find the perfect dog. We looked on
petfinder, adopt a pet, craigslist and of course, Today’s AdVantage.

We would find a dog, prepare to meet with the owner, and then it would be gone. Disappointment over and over and over again. But not this time. Finally we met one.

We found a Bethalto lady who had this puppy who needed a new home. She brought him to my house and the rest is history.

My dog’s name is Max. He is a mix of a Maltese and Shih Tzu. Yes, he would be a mutt, but we call them hybrids now. He is 13 weeks old and weighs five pounds. He has black eyes. His hair is white, light, dark, and chocolate brown. He is the prettiest puppy ever!

His vet is Dr. Formea at Formea Animal Hospital. We just found out that he has an ear infection so we have to give him drops. Dr. Formea is super nice and is great with animals.

We just started taking him to
Rowen’s Kennels in Brighton for puppy classes. He is the smallest but most behaved puppy in his class.

He is doing great with training. Max really picks up on things quickly. He hasn’t had an accident in the house for a few days now. (Knock on wood) We are bell training Max. This is where the dog goes to a specific location, rings a bell and gets let outside to potty. Max has rung the bell three time in one week. Thats pretty good.

Max can play fetch, hide ‘n seek, and tag. We are trying to train him to walk on a leash properly. This is going to take some time and hard work. Max gets distracted easily and walks from one shady spot to another. He can sit and stay on command too. He sleeps through the night with no whines, cries or barks. He naps a lot. He is very lovey. We call him Max “The Love Puppy”.

I know everyone says this about their own dog but he is the best dog in the whole world!

Do you have any interesting pets?

Tell me about them and I may mention it in an upcoming issue.
This is Ben Thayer and I’ve done that.
